Spring news bulletin

Welcome to our first new story on the web! 2009 seems to be passing at alarming speed already, February saw plenty of snow falling much to the childrens delight, but it did force the pre-school to be closed only for one day though.

That same week an Ofsted inspection was sprung upon Mel and the team, they of course took it all in their stride, resulting in a very positive report.  By now all parents will have received a copy of this report, it can also be view at: http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/oxcare_providers/full/(urn)/203942

To help entertain the children during the two week half term break, they were all set “The Colour Challenge”!  This involved each child choosing a colour and filling the MacDonald’s box provided, with as many individual items as possible in their chosen colour, while getting sponsored by friends and family.  The intention was to create a fun task to keep them busy during the extended break, but also to act as a fundraising exercise to raise money to buy new outdoor play equipment.
There is to be a small prize for the children that collect the most items and also collect the most sponsorship money, results are yet to be announced!  The children all seemed to enjoy the task and were keen to help count up the contents of each box.

We have recently been awarded a grant of £200 from Essex County Council Early Years Development & Childcare Partnership.  The plan is to spend this award on a secure storage shed within our outside play area, which will keep our new equipment safe and easily accessible during playtime.

Another successful pancake race took place once the spring term had resumed, seeing the pre-school join the reception class at Langham Primary.  Much fun was had by all adults and children participating in the races, then it was back into their classroom for pancakes, before walking back to pre-school!

Coming soon… It won’t be long ‘til the Easter break is upon us, we are working hard to organise an
Easter party on the 19th April, posters will be up very soon!  It will be open to all the children from our community not just those attending our pre-school, come along and bring your friends!
There’s going to be an entertainer with party music and games, bubbles & balloon making, as well as other Easter activities, party food and a raffle with some great prizes!!!
