Our week at Pre-School

This week has been fun packed!

We have been making obstacle courses out of resources in the outside area. The children have been using planks of wood to make a plank to walk across. The children have been putting their arms out to help them balance when walking across the plank.

We have been exploring the mud kitchen. The children have used the water butt and grass to mix together potions and to also make breakfast. Scrambled egg on toast was a firm favourite that the children liked making for each other. They invited adults over to the table and was able to explain how they made the breakfast.

We have been making creatures and cakes out of the playdough this week. This activity is great for communication and language as the children are able to express their feelings and tell an adult what they're making. It's also good for their physical development as they squash, squeeze, twist, pull and push the playdough together, this strengthens the muscles in their hands.

We had a challenge in the week to see if we could build a train track all the way round the pre-school room. The children managed halfway around the room and enjoyed this challenge. They worked together and talked about the ways the pieces need to go to make the track bigger or smaller. Once the track had been built, the children put the trains and carriages on the track and enjoyed going round the track.
One child even decided on drawing the track on the easel the next day to show the children that were not at pre-school the day before to show them how much of a big track we built.

Other interests this week have been building big towers and taking care of the pre-school rabbit. The children have always been great at caring for Woody (the pre-school rabbit) by giving him a healthy diet and giving him plenty of strokes.

Next week is our last week at pre-school before the summer holidays. We have sent out emails and text messages to inform parents/carers of the plans for next week. If you have any questions, please speak to a member of staff.

We hope you all have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you next week.
